Head of Finance & Business Operations
Location: Remote (U.S.-Based Preferred)

Build the Financial Engine Behind One of the Fastest-Growing Vacation Rental Companies in the Region
At Cohova, we believe exceptional hospitality begins with exceptional people.
We're one of Northwest Arkansas' premier vacation rental management companies, managing a growing portfolio of luxury vacation homes while delivering white-glove service to both homeowners and guests. As our company continues to grow, we're investing in the leadership, systems, and technology needed to scale the business without compromising the experience that sets us apart.
We're looking for an experienced Head of Finance & Business Operations to lead and continually improve the financial and administrative backbone of our organization.
This is not a traditional Controller position.
You'll own the company's finance function, oversee our outsourced bookkeeping partner and internal accounting staff, lead financial strategy, improve operational systems, and partner directly with executive leadership to help shape the future of the business.
If you're energized by building systems, solving complex problems, improving profitability, and creating scalable organizations, we'd love to meet you.
About the Role
As Head of Finance & Business Operations, you'll be responsible for the financial health of the organization while helping build the operational infrastructure needed to support our continued growth.
You'll serve as a trusted advisor to ownership and executive leadership by delivering accurate financial reporting, meaningful business insights, operational discipline, and scalable systems across the organization.
Financial Leadership
Own the company's accounting and finance function from day-to-day operations through long-term financial planning.
Deliver timely and accurate monthly financial statements, executive reporting, and KPI dashboards.
Lead the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
Manage company cash flow, banking relationships, and liquidity planning.
Develop financial models that support strategic decision-making.
Analyze profitability across properties, homeowners, markets, and departments.
Present financial performance and recommendations to executive leadership.
Identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and financial performance.
Vacation Rental Accounting
Significant vacation rental property management experience is required for this role.
You'll oversee all aspects of vacation rental accounting, including:
Trust accounting
Multi-entity accounting
Homeowner statements and owner distributions
Revenue share calculations
Owner reserve management
OTA reconciliation (Airbnb, Vrbo, Booking.com, etc.)
Property-level financial reporting
Occupancy and lodging tax compliance
Month-end and year-end close
Candidates without meaningful vacation rental accounting experience will not be considered.
Team Leadership
You'll lead the company's finance organization by:
Managing our outsourced bookkeeping and accounting partner
Supervising accounting assistants and future finance team members
Establishing accountability through KPIs and performance expectations
Reviewing financial work for accuracy and completeness
Building scalable accounting procedures and documentation
Developing a high-performing finance team as the company grows
Business Operations & Administration
In addition to finance leadership, you'll help improve the systems that keep the company running efficiently.
Responsibilities include:
Partner with executive leadership to improve operational performance across the business.
Oversee payroll, employee benefits, and compensation administration in partnership with HR providers.
Manage relationships with payroll providers, insurance brokers, auditors, tax advisors, and legal counsel.
Support annual insurance renewals, risk management initiatives, and regulatory compliance.
Develop and maintain company policies, financial procedures, and operational SOPs.
Lead administrative and operational improvement initiatives.
Support strategic projects including market expansion, acquisitions, and new business initiatives.
Technology & Process Improvement
Technology is a critical part of how we scale.
You'll help evaluate, improve, and implement the systems that power our business.
Responsibilities include:
Own the finance technology roadmap.
Improve workflows across finance, operations, reservations, maintenance, housekeeping, guest services, and owner relations.
Evaluate and implement software that improves reporting, automation, and efficiency.
Identify opportunities to automate manual processes.
Ensure data integrity across accounting, property management, CRM, and reporting systems.
Build executive dashboards that provide real-time business visibility.
Document repeatable processes that allow the organization to scale effectively.
Strategic Leadership
This role is expected to be a key business partner—not simply a financial reporter.
You'll help leadership answer questions like:
Which markets generate the strongest returns?
Which owners and properties are most profitable?
Where are we losing margin?
How should we invest for future growth?
Which operational improvements create the greatest financial impact?
You'll be expected to challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, and provide the financial insight that drives better business decisions.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of finance or accounting leadership experience within the vacation rental property management industry
7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
Experience leading accounting teams and/or outsourced bookkeeping firms
